About the consortium

The achievement of TRANSFAM objectives and contribution to the programme's expected impact requires the merging and integration of scientific know-how and multidisciplinary advanced research. The TRANSFAM consortium binds together University, a social policy and social sciences research institute and a non-governmental think-tank. The consortium is constructed to provide theoretical knowledge combined with practical researchexperience and evaluation of policy practices. Among projects and grants attained by JU (Institute of Sociology, research team recruits from this institute) are both national and international projects including issues of migration, social cohesion, exclusion and inclusion processes and the role of minorities, e.g. FeMiPol, within the 6 PR, 2006-2008, or Equal treatment standard for good governance (realized by Government Plenipotentiary For Equal Treatment, Warsaw School of Economics and JU).

Agder Research is a regional social science research institute, located in Kristiansand, which covers three research areas; welfare, culture and innovation. The institute is owned by the University of Agder, and Agder Research Foundation. The welfare group consists primarily of sociologists and anthropologists with specific research competence within the fields of families and childhood, gender equality, migration and work life. Of relevance for the application, the group has had a special focus on low female participation in the work force, untapped human resources and qualifications, early intervention programmes, children's well-being, work migrants and asylum seekers. Researchers atAgder Research are involved in both Nordic and international research projects.

NOVA (Norwegian Social Research) is a social policy research institute under the auspices of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. The aim of theinstitute is to develop knowledge and understanding of social conditions and processes of change. Among the institute's priorities are ageing and life courses, comparative welfare, child protection, youth and international migration and transnationality. NOVA has a highly qualified and multidisciplinary staff of nearly 90 researchers; more than 140 research projects are currently in progress, of which a substantial number are in cooperation with international partners. NOVA has been the leading institution for a Nordic Centre f or Excellence of Welfare Research (2007-2012), coordinated the FP4 TSER project ‘Youth unemployment and social exclusion in Europe' (1999-2001) and edits several Norwegian social research journals.

CIR (Center for International Relations) in Warsaw is a non-governmental think-tank. CIR carries out its own research projects, prepares reports and analyses and participates in international projects in cooperation with similar institutions in several countries. The centre's activities are analytical and educational in character. Migration has been one of the main fields of CIR activities since its foundation in 1995 and since 2002 ithas been agreed that immigration constitutes a very important aspect of this. The Migration Programme is run by Prof. Krystyna Iglicka. Its main area involves such topics as: circular migration patterns in Southern and Central Eastern Europe (e.g. project METOIKOS, 2010-2011), irregular migrants in Europe, (e.g. project CLANDESTINO within 6PR, 2007-2009),Free Movement of Workers after the EU enlargement, European Dilemmas of Multiculturalism, (e.g. project EMILIE within 6PR, 2006-2008), Polish migration policy, costs and benefits of temporary labour migration, as well as integration of migrants, returning migrant' and refugee children to the Polish school system (e.g. running project I-KIDS).

The composition of the Consortium fully meets the needs of the research aimed at improving policy learning in order to promote an inclusive and sustainable society. The composition of particular WPs indicates that close cooperation between researcherson all partner teams is fundamental to achieving planned objectives.
